Everyone Needs A Family Vacation

By: Aydan Corkern

Do you remember the first time you went on a family vacation? I don't remember the first time, but I remember our last. It was probably the worst one we ever went on. My dad loved to fish, and the rest of us didn't so there wasn't much for us to do. This vacation started out bad and just kept getting worse. First my parents kept fighting about almost everything and even about me. Then my youngest brother and my cousin were running down the plank to the river to go swimming. While my brother hit one end of this plank, my cousin hit the other end and my brother went into the air, fell back down, and hit his forehead on the dock. We had to watch him closely for the rest of the day and into the night, and we left the next day. My brother was okay, but he had two black eyes for years. That was our last family vacation.

Since I grew up and moved out on my own I have wanted to go on a real family vacation. When the whole family talks about going, all of our hearts will be on fire to go. We talk about all the things that we want to do. I would like to let my husband and son go deep-sea fishing while I go shopping or just sit by a pool and relax. I want my family to go anywhere and just have fun. Somewhere that will stay in our hearts and minds for years to come.

I would like for my family to be able to do whatever they wanted when they wanted to do it. There are so many places that you could go and so many things that you could see that you couldn't do them all in one year or even a couple. There are places in almost every state of the union to see. All of these places have different likes for different people, but you can always find something of interest for all maybe in different parts of the state.

The things my children want to do aren't my cup of tea, but I will go along because it's my family, and I want them to be happy. Of course we will have be able to share stories with friends and other family and will be able to cherish these memories for the rest of our lives.
